PubMed's Clinical Queries tool allows you to limit search results to specific clinical research categories; retrieved results are separated into Clinical Study Categories, Systematic Reviews, and Medical Genetics. This tool can be useful in locating evidence-based, clinical practice information.
1. Click the Clinical Queries link in the Find section of the PubMed homepage.
2. Enter your search terms in the search box.
3. Within the results screen, you can change the category of your search (default: therapy; other options: etiology, diagnosis, prognosis, clinical prediction guides) and the scope of your search (default: broad; you can choose to change scope to narrow, which will give fewer, more precise results). Use the appropriate dropdown menu to change search options.
4. The first five citations (if five or more citations are retrieved) for a search will be listed within each clinical section. Click the See all link at the bottom of the citation list in the clinical section you wish to view. The See all link leads to the regular PubMed search results page where you can filter results as you would with any other search.
