Accessing resources in Scopus

Accessing resources in Scopus

1. In the search results list, above each numbered citation you will see the type of resource that the citation references such as book, journal article, etc. Below each citation, clicking ‘Show abstract’ will display the abstract. ‘View at Publisher’ opens the full text on the publisher website if access is available through the Library. ‘Related documents’ displays related documents based on shared references.

Related ‘Patents' can be viewed and the link is located at the very top of the documents list along with 'Secondary documents’ (documents that have been extracted from a Scopus document reference list but are not available directly in the Scopus database) and also 'Research data'.

2. Clicking on the title of the citation brings you inside the record. Under the abstract, selecting ‘View PDF’ lets users who are entitled to the full-text of an article (either via open access or through their institutional subscription) reach it with one click.  ‘Full text options’ can include ‘View repository version’ which links to the repository version of the articles that have Green open access status; ‘View at Publisher’ which links directly to the article on the publisher’s website; and/or ‘Order Document’ which lets users request the document from their library (if the account has the Document Delivery Service enabled).

If full access does not appear to be available, it is recommended to check the Library Catalog. If confirmed that the content is unavailable, you can request an interlibrary loan for the article or book chapter that is not available through the LSU Libraries. Selecting the Full Text Finder icon shown below will also lead to a form where an interlibrary loan can be requested.
