- Biography Reference Center (provided by the State Library of Louisiana)EBSCO's comprehensive collection of more than 450,000 full text biographies, including the complete full text run of Biography Today and Biography Magazine, as well as thousands of narrative biographies that are not available in other databases.
- Gale Virtual Reference Library (provided by the State Library of Louisiana)Literary criticism, author biographies and business resources. Includes Twayne's and Scribner.
- History Reference Center (provided by the State Library of Louisiana)EBSCO's History Reference Center offers full text from more than 1,620 reference books, encyclopedias and non-fiction books, cover to cover full text for more than 150 leading history periodicals, nearly 57,000 historical documents, more than 77,000 biographies of historical figures, more than 113,000 historical photos and maps, and more than 80 hours of historical video.
- Science Reference Center (provided by State Library of Louisiana)EBSCO's Science Reference Center is a comprehensive research database that provides easy access to a multitude of full text science-oriented content. This database contains full text for nearly 640 science encyclopedias, reference books, periodicals, etc. Topics covered include: biology, chemistry, earth & space science, environmental science, health & medicine, history of science, life science, physics, science & society, science as inquiry, scientists, technology and wildlife.
Scholarly Information (aka where to find articles)
- Academic Search Complete from EBSCOHost (provided by State Library of Louisiana)Academic Search Complete is a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 8,500 full-text periodicals, including more than 7,300 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 12,500 journals and a total of more than 13,200 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format. Searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,400 journals.
- Consumer Health Complete (provided by the State Library of Louisiana)Convenient access to easily understandable health and medical information from EBSCO. Search and browse within medical encyclopedias, popular reference books, and magazine articles. NOTE: There are some academic journals available through this database as well.
- Directory of Open Access JournalsDOAJ is a community-curated online directory that indexes and provides access to high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals. DOAJ is independent. All funding is via donations, 22% of which comes from sponsors and 78% from members and publisher members. All DOAJ services are free of charge including being indexed in DOAJ. All data is freely available.
- JSTORJSTOR provides access to academic journal articles, books, and primary sources in 75 disciplines. EXPANDED ACCESS: Free read-online access has expanded from six to 100 articles per month β simply register for a free account at https://about.jstor.org/covid19/.
- Full EBSCOHost Suite from the Louisiana State LibraryBy choosing this link you will be searching over 35 EBSCOHost databases provided by the Louisiana State Library. While this will most likely give you a larger results lists, that means you will have to do more work in narrowing your search through the use of limiters (found on the left of the results screen).
