Introduction
For as long as there has been music in Louisiana, there have been music enthusiasts. The personal accounts and reviews of those who attended musical performances of the past can provide insight into how Louisiana’s music culture has been perceived throughout the state’s long and rich history. LSU Special collections houses diaries, correspondence, newspaper reviews, radio broadcasts, and more pertaining to the music of the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. Please note that some personal accounts may also be listed in other sections, as individuals collected and sometimes wrote their own music.
