Interlibrary Loan Overview

How to use LSU Libraries' Interlibrary Loan services

Faculty & Staff Book Delivery

Access Services at LSU Library offers a Book Delivery service for faculty and staff. Materials requested from LSU Library and from Interlibrary Loan are delivered directly to departmental mailboxes on campus.

To use the service, patrons should request books through their Interlibrary Loan account and specify a delivery option: either hold for pickup at the library or deliver to a departmental mailbox. The library retrieves the item from our holdings or borrows it from another library, then delivers it to a department mailbox. The service typically delivers local books in 2-3 business days and interlibrary loans book 2-3 days after they arrive at the library.

LSU Online/Remote Students

Are you an LSU Online/remote learner? If the answer is yes, you can still borrow books and other physical materials using ILL! Submit your request through your Interlibrary Loan (ILL) account. When you create your account, choose the status "Undergraduate-LSU Online" or "Graduate-LSU Online." To change your status on an existing account, click "Change User Information" on the left menu. When you place an interlibrary loan request, we will contact you with options for obtaining physical items.

Document Delivery

Is there an article or book chapter you want from a journal or book the library currently owns the physical copy of, but don't have time to come down to the library to scan it?

Books

Use your ILL account to request LSU Library’s local materials. We retrieve them and notify you when they are ready for pickup at the Checkout Desk. Faculty and Staff have the option to have local and interlibrary loan books delivered to their departmental mailbox.

Journal Articles and Book Chapters

Use your ILL account to request chapters and journal articles LSU Library holds in print. When you request an article or book chapter LSU Library holds in print, we will scan it and provide the PDF on your interlibrary loan account.
