American History Resources on War and Conflict

Introduction

The United States entered WWII following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Upon entry, the United States joined the Allies, which had already been at war with Germany, Italy, and Japan since the German invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939. The United States saw troops deployed to both European and Pacific theatres of combat, as well as intensified training and rationing across America. The United States and her allies would remain at war with Germany and Japan until 1945.
