American History Resources on War and Conflict

Introduction

Beginning with the onset of the American Revolution, the United States of America (including Louisiana which joined the US as a territory in 1803) faced conflicts throughout North America. Battles were fought with local Indigenous peoples, between the young United States and the United Kingdom, and between the United States and other North American peoples. This section will direct you to materials related to this period between 1776 and the onset of the American Civil War in 1861.
