Getting Started

The citation management program known as EndNote enables you to save time collecting, storing, organizing and sharing bibliographic references. It allows you to easily create bibliographies while writing papers and offers thousands of citation styles from which to choose. EndNote is available to LSU students, staff, and faculty through the university's software portal known as 'Tigerware'.

Use of EndNote desktop (Windows or Mac) allows you to sign-up for EndNote online. This will give you the ability to synchronize the references in your desktop library with those in your online library as well as share your references with other EndNote users.

Access EndNote through LSU Tigerware

Create a new library

  • Open the EndNote program
  • Under the 'File' menu, click 'New'
  • Give a unique name to the Library (default name is “My EndNote Library.enl”)
  • Save the new library to your computer hard drive
  • Do not save a working EndNote Library in a cloud environment (e.g. Google Drive, Box, Microsoft OneDrive, DropBox) nor on a networked / shared drive
    • This may corrupt the contents of your library
    • You may save a backup EndNote library to a cloud environment
