Introduction to Special Collections and Archives

Resources for Visitors

LSU Special Collections welcomes out-of-state and international visitors. This page offers resources for planning your visit to Baton Rouge.

Transportation to Baton Rouge

Visitors can fly into the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR). Car rental services are available at the airport. Rideshare options in Baton Rouge include Uber and Lyft.

Alternatively, visitors may choose to fly into the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). Visitors arriving at MSY can rent a car at the airport or schedule a shuttle to travel to Baton Rouge

Parking on Campus

Nearby parking is limited. If you do not have an LSU parking permit, the closest locations for parking include the metered lot at the corner of Highland Road and Dalrymple Drive, in front of Memorial Tower, or at Mike the Tiger’s habitat. It is a five- to ten-minute walk to the library.

If you require handicapped parking, you must pick up a permit at the Welcome Center. This will allow you to park in any open space on campus. For more information, call the LSU Office of Parking, Traffic & Transportation at (225) 578-5000.

Local Hotels and Lodging

For the convenience of visitors to the LSU campus, the university offers a single website for discounted lodging reservations at surrounding hotels. Many visitors staying for a week or more find nearby lodging on AirBnB.
