Evaluating Information: Home

Is it CRAAP? Do you need to SIFT IT? With so many different types of evaluation, how do you evaluate if something is good or not?

Welcome

Evaluating information is never easy, and with the amount of information out there, it's only getting more difficult. Over the years, information professionals have used different resources to help students understand all the ways to evaluate information. Do you need a peer-reviewed journal article for a paper? What about a newspaper for an assignment?

We know it's overwhelming, but that's why we are here to help.

This guide looks at the different ways users can evaluate information. It doesn't matter if it's CRAAP, ACT UP, or SIFT, as long as you critically evaluate your information through A lens, it's better than taking the information at face value.

If you need more help navigating the research process or evaluating something you have seen online, please contact an LSU Librarian.
