Detailed Information About CASKs
What are CASKs?
CASKs, or Canine Anatomical Skeleton Kits, are specially designed toolboxes filled with real canine skeletal bones. These kits, also called "Bone Boxes," provide hands-on learning opportunities for veterinary anatomy students and related fields.
How to Access the CASKs
The CASKs are available for checkout for 24 hours at the Vet Med Library. Each kit includes bones from various parts of a canine skeleton, providing a complete anatomical reference.
The CASKs are located in the stacks room (where the bookshelves are) of the Vet Med Library. Students and Faculty are permitted to enter the stacks room to browse for items to check out. The CASKs are on the cart near the Permanent Reserves & References aisle. Simply choose a CASK and bring it to the Circulation Desk to check out with your LSU Tiger Card.
Guidelines for Use
-
Each CASK comes with a padlock and key. The kits, padlocks, and keys have corresponding numbers, and all items are checked out together. Make sure you receive your key before you leave.
-
Users are encouraged to handle the bones with care. Please ensure that all items are returned in the same condition as when checked out.
-
An inventory list is included in each CASK and should remain inside once it is returned.
-
The CASKs must be returned in good condition. The kits must be locked.
-
Take caution not to lock the key inside of the CASK.
