XXXXXXXXX, XXXXX, XXXXXXXXX, and XXXXXXXXXXXX (XXXX) Resources

This guide is designed to support the study and practical application of resources related to XXXXXXXXXX, XXXXXX, & XXXXXXXXXX (XXXX) topics.

Introduction

This guide provides resources for self-education on various XXXXXXXXX, XXXXXX, and XXXXXXXXX topics. Each topic page may contain key terms, examples of XXXX-free language, and related resources.

Each subtopic page has a reading list of ten (10) books to get you started on familiarizing yourself with the theories, issues, and general background information within that subtopic. Items on these lists can be requested via LSU Libraries, your local public library, or commercial vendor. There is a search box for the Libraries' catalog at the top of every subtopic page.

Why are there so many X's on this guide

In early 2025, the US Government issued directives to institutions of higher learning to remove terminology associated with a movement that we cannot name here, lest we run afoul of their directive. Because we believe in making resources across ALL topics available to ensure that high quality research can be done at a top research university, we have chosen to republish the guide with the "offending" terms removed. For more information about this directive and words we are no longer allowed to use, please see this link: https://pen.org/banned-words-list/

As one scholar noted in the linked article: “How can we have intelligent or difficult conversations if we can’t even use the words, the most basic unit of meaning? These prohibitions on language are utterly chilling, and will impede efforts to research real world problems and advance human knowledge."

We hope that presenting this guide in this fashion helps to illustrate this point clearly and concisely.
