Q. How do I find a document when I know the citation?

If you know a case's citation, you can use that citation to find the related case document in Nexis Uni^®.

To do this:

1. Enter the citation in the search box.
2. Click the search button

Q. How do I Shepardize a document when I know its citation?

When researching and citing cases, you often want to validate that the case is valid and citable. By Shepardizing a case, you can determine whether the case is still "good law."

Retrieving a Shepard's^® report by citation can be done in a variety of ways.

The most common method is to enter "shep:" in the search box, followed by your citation, then press ENTER or click the search button.

You could also enter just the citation name in the search box, then click the Shepard's Signal™ indicator next to the document name.

Q. How do I restrict my search to a specific source?

To restrict your search from the search box:

1. On the Nexis Uni^® home page, type the name of a source into the Search box.

   As you type, possible source names are displayed beneath the search box, next to Add Source as a Filter.

2. Select the source you want to use.

The source name is added next to Narrow By under Filters.

To restrict your search by selecting from a list of all sources:

1. On the home page, select the Menu drop-down list at the top of the page.
2. Select All Sources.
3. Do one of the following:

   To...	Do This
   Search for a source	Enter the name (or part of a name) of a source under Search Within Sources in the left pane, then select the search icon ().
   Browse through all sources alphabetically	Use the alphabetical listing to find the source you want.
   Select a source by category, jurisdiction, practice area, or publisher	Select By Category, By Jurisdiction, By Practice Area, etc. from the list, then select a sub-category, if there is one.

4. When you see the source you want to use, select it.
5. From the menu that appears, select Add source as a search filter.
