Steel Magnolias is an American comedy-drama television film directed by Kenny Leon that premiered at Lifetime Network on October 7, 2012. It is the remake of 1989 film of the same name. The new film stars an all-African American cast including Queen Latifah, Phylicia Rashad, Adepero Oduye, Condola Rashad, Jill Scott, Tory Kittles, Afemo Omilami, Alfre Woodard.

Frank, a short-order cook, sees his ex-addict wife snatched away by a seductive drug dealer. In 2012, Louisiana State Police Detectives Rust Cohle and Martin Hart are brought in to revisit a homicide case they worked in 1995. As the inquiry unfolds in present day through separate interrogations, the two former detectives narrate the story of their investigation, reopening unhealed wounds, and drawing into question their supposed solving of a bizarre ritualistic murder in 1995.
